Press ReleaseXML Firewall with Delegated Security Management - PrismTech Releases New Version of Xtradyne WS-DBCMunich, Germany - 24 January 2005 - PrismTech, a leading provider of distributed and wireless software infrastructure, today announced the general availability of version 2.1 of its Xtradyne® Web Services DBC (WS-DBC) security product. The new release is the result of a substantial development effort to specially streamline the product for large enterprises, which often have a wide variety of Web Services based application systems running on multiple vendor platforms and which have to deal with widely delegated responsibilities for firewall and application security management. The WS-DBC is a platform and vendor-neutral XML/SOAP security gateway that helps enterprises implement Web Services standards cost-effectively, including SOAP, WSDL, WS-Security, SAML, XACML, XML Encryption, and XML Digital Signature. The WS-DBC can be easily integrated into existing Web Services infrastructures without modifying applications and provides WS-Security and unified security management across diverse platforms, such as Microsoft .NET, IBM WebSphere, BEA WebLogic, Java WSDK, and SAP NetWeaver. The new WS-DBC product facilitates the delegation of administration rights per application. This means that the responsibility for the security management of XML Web Services can be separated and delegated according to the existing organization of IT operations within the enterprise. For example, the firewall security group only administers perimeter security issues, such as content inspection; whereas for each application, the responsible operation team defines and manages application specific security, such as defining and managing access rights, security roles, permitted parameter value ranges etc. Version 2.1 of the WS-DBC is fully compliant with WS-Security 1.0 and has been tested for secure interoperability with major Web Services platforms. "Web Services security gateways, such as our WS-DBC, are powerful products. They provide complete security functionality for reliable firewalling as well as for fine-grained authentication, authorization, and security audit at the application level," said Sebastian Staamann, Product Manager for PrismTech's security solutions. "However, if all security management, at the different levels of security enforcement has to be done by one person or team in the organization, customers can in most cases not really exploit the product's full power. Only if delegation of security administration rights is supported, can a security gateway actually be used to fully implement the company's security policy for Web Services and provide maximum return on investment. The new version of our WS-DBC allows us to respond to our customers' requests for full support of delegation." "This is the first product release after the incorporation of Xtradyne® Technologies into PrismTech," added Keith Steele, PrismTech's CEO. "It shows PrismTech's continuing commitment to the Xtradyne® DBC security gateway technology and its future development within PrismTech's distributed and wireless software infrastructure portfolio of products".
